Game Pass keeps getting pricier, but it also keeps dropping stuff you actually want to play. 2025 has already had a healthy handful of day-one arrivals like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Doom: The Dark Ages, Rematch, and Atomfall. That’s the confirmed October slate as of right now, with a pretty loaded first day of the month and a big closer in The Outer Worlds 2 on Oct 29. Also, heads up on a name collision: Keeper arrives Oct 17, while Core Keeper is leaving on Oct 15. Different games, annoying coincidence.
Inside baseball note: Dead Static Drive shows up twice in the future pile here (once with a 2025 window and again as date TBC). I know. Either way, it’s on the roadmap for Game Pass.
Quick refresher on the Games with Gold → Game Pass Core switch
Microsoft retired Xbox Live Gold on Sep 1, 2023. If you were still subbed back then, you were moved over to Game Pass Core as part of the wider price shuffle. The old two free monthly games went away and were replaced by a rotating library of about 30 titles — think staples like Halo 5: Guardians, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and Forza Horizon 4. Core still covers online multiplayer and tosses in periodic deals and discounts, and Microsoft says it updates the Core library two to three times a year.
One small naming curveball while we’re here: you’ll see some October titles labeled for the Essential tier. That’s the entry-level library bucket referenced above. If you’re on Ultimate, you’re covered across the board — and you’re getting that Ubisoft+ Classics Catalogue folded in on Oct 1 as a bonus.
