WWE Survivor Series: Roman Reigns and CM Punk Poised to Finally Unite
After weeks off TV following his Crown Jewel loss to Bronson Reed, Roman Reigns is tipped for a Nov. 29 Survivor Series return—sparking buzz he could link up with CM Punk to lead a blockbuster team.
WWE rumor watch: Roman Reigns might be back in a big way, and the whispers have him teaming with CM Punk for this year’s Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29. The chatter is messy, a little contradictory, and frankly kind of wild, but here’s what’s out there and how it (sort of) fits together.
How we got here
Reigns has been off WWE TV since losing to Bronson Reed at Crown Jewel, a defeat that reportedly came with a timely assist from Bron Breakker. Despite the silence since then, Dave Meltzer was already saying in a late September edition of his newsletter that Reigns would be in the WarGames match.
Then things escalated. On October 11, Meltzer’s colleague Bryan Alvarez said on YouTube that Meltzer had a full two-team picture in mind. Two days later (October 13), Meltzer added another bomb: Brock Lesnar is expected to join the heel side opposite Reigns and Punk, with Austin Theory also slotted in on that team. And on October 24, Wrestle Ops summarized the current thinking on X, noting that as of now the Men’s WarGames would be a team led by Roman Reigns and CM Punk vs. a team led by what they called 'The Vision' (which, yes, sure sounds like Seth Rollins).
The rumored lineups (subject to change)
- Team Reigns/Punk: Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Jacob Fatu, Jey Uso, plus a fifth to be either Jimmy Uso or LA Knight (per Alvarez relaying Meltzer’s report on Oct 11)
- Team 'The Vision' (heel side): Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Brock Lesnar, Austin Theory (per Meltzer’s late-September and Oct 13 notes; Wrestle Ops echoed the Reigns/Punk vs. 'The Vision' framing on Oct 24 via @WONF4W)
- Important caveat: Both Seth Rollins and Jacob Fatu are currently injured, so expect names to shift before the show
One wrinkle that actually explains a lot
'[Austin] Theory’s involvement would have in some form led to Reigns and Punk coming together on the same unit against The Vision in WarGames, since Reigns was beaten at Crown Jewel by Reed, with help from Breakker.'
That’s Meltzer connecting the dots: Theory’s presence on the Reed/Breakker side helps justify the unlikely Reigns/Punk alliance.
What WWE has officially said
Nothing yet about Reigns being in the match. All of this is reporting and speculation from Meltzer/Alvarez and a summary push from Wrestle Ops. Also, just to clear up the wording you might have seen floating around: some posts refer to Reigns as 'OTC' (pretty clearly a typo for 'The Tribal Chief'), and calling the opposing side 'The Vision' tracks to Rollins’s nickname, even though Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker being labeled under that umbrella is… generous.
Quick reality check
WarGames teams are usually four or five wrestlers a side, so the numbers here make sense. The injuries to Rollins and Fatu make the whole thing shaky, but if even half of this sticks, we’re staring at a WarGames stuffed with headliners, including Lesnar in a cage. Not subtle, but definitely a spectacle.
Bottom line: the current buzz says Roman Reigns and CM Punk will captain one side at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29, with a heel squad fronted under the 'Vision' banner and powered by Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Brock Lesnar, and Austin Theory. It’s not confirmed, it may change, and it’s a little convoluted — but that’s the state of play right now.
