When Meghan Markle became a part of the British Royal family, hardly anybody could think that she would stir as much controversy as she has.

From racism allegations and to tearing the Windsors apart, Meghan has done a lot to sour her relationship with the royal family and their supporters.

Markle's latest and perhaps the most outrageous slap in the face of the British royalty was her decision to skip King Charles III's coronation, which took place on May 6. This historic event was attended by the world's elites — British and foreign royals and nobility, national leaders and members of governments, and celebrities of all kinds. The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate Middleton, were among the honorable guests.

Naturally, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the king's younger son Harry and daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, got their invitations too. However, only Harry traveled across the pond to support his father during the most important moment in his life. Meghan opted out, preferring to stay home in LA to celebrate her and Harry's son's fourth birthday (which is also on May 6).

People interpreted Markle's actions as snubbing her father-in-law's coronation (and the entire royal family, for that matter). This prompted many to wonder — will she ever attend another royal event in her life?

PR strategists say unanimously that it is a loss for the Duchess who distanced herself from the Royal family even further. She has repeatedly chosen to turn away from the people who outspokenly welcomed her in their midst, and the reputational damage this behavior caused is irreparable.

The author of Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, an upcoming biography, Rob Jobson once said in an interview that Markle would probably never be seen at the Palace or any other monarchical event again. Nonetheless, there is an exception.

'But the fact [Meghan] is not attending [the coronation] means it is now highly unlikely we will ever see her attend an official or Palace event again — apart from maybe the King's funeral,' Jonson's comment went.

Indeed, the last time the Duchess of Sussex was seen among her husband's relatives was during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral procession back in September 2022. Perhaps, this kind of family tragedy may have the former actress visit the Windsors once again. But long live the king!
