ABC just set the date: Will Trent Season 4 is arriving sooner than expected, part of a 16-show premiere slate that puts Ramon Rodriguez’s crime-solver back on the case ahead of schedule.

ABC finally put a date on Will Trent Season 4, so if you have been refreshing calendars since that wild Season 3 finale, you can stop. It is coming back in early 2026, and yes, the network is stacking it with a couple of familiar favorites for a tidy Tuesday lineup.

When it hits

  • Will Trent Season 4 premieres Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 8 PM ET on ABC.
  • Same night, same network: High Potential Season 2 returns from its midseason break at 9 PM ET, and The Rookie launches Season 8 at 10 PM ET.
  • If you care about scheduling quirks: ABC just rolled out premiere dates for 16 series, and Will Trent, led by Ramon Rodriguez, is once again slotted as a midseason play.
  • How the show has premiered so far:
    - Season 1: January 3, 2023
    - Season 2: February 20, 2024 (a little later than usual)
    - Season 3: January 7, 2025 (back to that early January rhythm)

Why the January date makes sense

This show has lived in ABC's midseason window from the jump, so parking Season 4 on the first Tuesday of 2026 tracks with how they have managed it all along. Pairing it with High Potential and The Rookie also tells you ABC likes the flow of crime-procedural to crime-procedural to... more crime-procedural. Not flashy, but it works.

About that Season 3 cliffhanger...

If the silence since the finale has been stressing you out, fair. The last episode left two big threads hanging: Michael Ormewood collapsed with a seizure, and Amanda Wagner was shot during a terrorist attack and ended up in a coma. ABC did not add any story details with the date reveal, so how (or when) those two arcs pick back up remains a question. At least now we know when the answers start rolling in.

Bottom line: mark January 6, 2026. Will Trent is back at 8, with High Potential and The Rookie following right after. It has been months without an update, but the show is locked in and right back in its usual January lane.
