Season 7 of The Kardashians lands with a shocker: Kim Kardashian says her law school study hack using ChatGPT backfired, serving up wrong answers and helping tank her exams.

Season 7 of The Kardashians just rolled out, and Kim Kardashian’s law grind is the headline act. But the plot twist isn’t in the courtroom; it’s in her study routine. Kim says she leaned on ChatGPT to prep for exams… and it kept feeding her wrong answers. According to her, that led to failing tests more than once. With her California Bar results landing in early November, the timing couldn’t be messier — or more made-for-TV.

Kim vs. ChatGPT, explained

On Vanity Fair’s lie detector series with her All’s Fair co-star Teyana Taylor, Kim opened up about how she uses AI to study: she takes a photo of a legal question, uploads it, and waits for the solution. Easy. Except, per Kim, it’s been consistently wrong. She says it’s burned her so often that she ends up yelling at the app. And then, as if trying to be a mindfulness coach, it follows up with little pep talks telling her to trust her gut. Not exactly what you want from a study partner.

'toxic friendship'

That’s what she calls it. She even screenshots the more ridiculous exchanges and blasts them to her group chat. It’s the kind of detail that’s funny and also a little jaw-dropping if you care about, you know, passing the bar the old-fashioned way.

The ethics question everyone is dancing around

There’s another wrinkle: Kim’s mentor Jessica Jackson once praised her path as having 'no ivory tower shortcuts.' Meanwhile, fans are now arguing whether using AI during exams is basically cheating. Kim, for her part, seemed more focused on the tool being wrong than on the ethics of using it. And for what it’s worth, OpenAI’s own guidance says their models can be incorrect and shouldn’t be treated as legal counsel without an expert reviewing the output. So even the AI company is like: do not do this on your bar prep.

Will the show actually go there?

Season 7 tracks her studying hard while juggling major stress — including a health scare she links to the fallout from her divorce from Kanye West — and the season leans into the will-she-or-won’t-she tension of whether she passed. The big question is if the episodes will explicitly include the ChatGPT angle. Reality shoots months ahead, and that Vanity Fair interview seems like it happened after cameras stopped rolling. Still, the Kardashians have a long history of circling back to address whatever everyone’s talking about, so don’t be shocked if Kim ends up breaking down her study methods in a confessional.

Where Kim’s at in the journey

  • Baby Bar: Passed in December 2021 after failing three times first, then clearing it on the fourth try.
  • Law Apprenticeship: Completed in May 2025; a six-year path for her instead of the standard four-year law school route.
  • California Bar Exam: Sat for it in July 2025. Format: 200 multiple-choice questions, five essays, and a 90-minute performance test.
  • Results: Due November 7, 2025, with an approximate statewide pass rate of 53.8%.
  • Season 7 Premiere: October 23, 2025.

The confidence game

On The Graham Norton Show, Kim said she feels good about her chances and talked about wanting to become a trial lawyer — even floating the idea that she could step back from 'being Kim K' within a decade to focus on practicing law full-time. Bold. Whether her unconventional study plan pays off on one of the toughest exams in the country is about to be very public.
