Don't get discouraged just yet.

In January of this year, Outlander fans were sent to cloud nine after the news that Starz had renewed their beloved time-hopping drama for an eighth and final season. After all, it meant that we were in for a whole new chapter of Claire and Jamie Fraser's adventures and relationship.

However, the fate of many popular shows has been up in the air since the Hollywood strikes broke out. Could Outlander be one of them?

So far, the Starz show has aired Part 1 of its penultimate seventh season, leaving viewers for an indefinite Draughtlander, with Part 2 not given an exact premiere date. However, those worried about the remaining eight episodes of the season can relax, as the strikes reportedly won't affect them because filming was completed before they began.

That means we can expect the new Draughtlander to end on schedule sometime in 2024. But what about Season 8? Could it be canceled because of the strikes?

5 Outlander Episodes That Should Come with a Serious Warning

All indications are that Season 8 will be delayed, but not canceled. For Starz, Outlander is the flagship show that brings in a lot of subscribers, so it would be extremely unwise of them to cancel the series early. Just imagine the backlash such an announcement would cause in the massive Outlander fandom!

Another good sign is that executive producer Maril Davis has mentioned in several interviews that work on Outlander Season 8 has already begun but was halted by the WGA strike.

'We were in the writers' room for Season 8 and the prequel, and now everything's on hold,' she told HELLO! Magazine. 'I hope it gets resolved quickly. I'd like to get back to work with the writers and the actors and obviously our crew, you don't want anyone to be out of work longer than they have to so I hope it gets back, but it has delayed us.'

These words certainly show that the creators are adamant about producing the final season of Outlander, even if it happens with the delay needed for the writers and actors to negotiate the best deals with the studios.

So put your worries away, Sassenachs, the final chapter of Claire and Jamie's story is still coming to our screens. There's no doubt about it.
