Many characters' lives will hang in the balance in the final chapter of Stranger Things.

Stranger Things Season 4 brought us the biggest reveal in the show's history — we now know the mastermind behind all the misadventures the characters have faced. Subject 001, child experiments at Hawkins National Laboratory, and the manipulation of Eleven all led to the parallel reality's breakthrough into the human world.

Now Hawkins is in grave danger, as the town is swarming with armies of Demogorgons and Demobats led by Henry Creel, aka Vecna. The latter will obviously continue to take revenge, especially on Eleven and her loved ones.

Although the Hawkins gang managed to push Vecna away in the final episode of Season 4 Volume 2, Max's temporary cardiac arrest and the deaths of other teenagers allowed the main antagonist to open a rift into our world. This means that Vecna will gain strength by hunting down traumatized and lost children in Season 5.

Vecna's manipulation relies on trauma, fear, and grief of adolescents, and it looks like everyone's favorite character, Dustin Henderson, is now in the most vulnerable position.

In Season 4, Dustin became attached to the leader of the school's D&D Hellfire Club, Eddie Munson, and when the two were in the upside-down version of Hawkins, the latter sacrificed himself to help his younger friend get out. Of course, the death of his friend was a huge tragedy for Dustin, and it looks like the scene of Eddie dying is going to haunt him in the future season as well, making him a perfect target for Vecna.

Psychic damage is Vecna's main weapon, and he will surely use it to inflict maximum harm on Eleven and others. In addition to Dustin, Will, who has developed a deep connection to the parallel world since the first season, may also become a victim.

The production of Stranger Things Season 5 has been frozen due to the WGA strike, so it's unlikely that the scripts for the next season are finished. Nevertheless, fans look forward to the finale with great anticipation, keeping their fingers crossed for the fate of Dustin, Eleven, and their friends.
