Will Daenerys Targaryen Return in Game of Thrones' Jon Snow Spinoff?
The actress has weighed in on the matter.
It's been quite a while since the last episode of HBO's most popular drama, Game of Thrones, was released. However, the impact was so huge that the industry is still experiencing the aftermath. Specifically, just last year, the network released a prequel show titled House of the Dragon, currently in production for its second season, and announced another spin-off focusing on Jon Snow.
From the inception of GoT, Jon Snow has been a fan favourite. He is endearing and charmingly naive. Naturally, his own spin-off was always just a matter of time. Now that it's happening, fans are curious to see if other beloved characters, particularly Daenerys Targaryen, will make an appearance.
Emilia Clarke Has Had Her Final Say on Reprising the Role
Daenerys Targaryen, portrayed by Emilia Clarke, was another fan favourite on Game of Thrones until her death at the hands of her nephew and lover, Jon Snow, in the show's finale. Although GoT has a history of resurrecting deceased characters - Jon Snow being a prime example - it's highly unlikely that the Stormborn will appear in the new show.
Clarke has been openly dissatisfied with her character's fate. Furthermore, the actress has expressed her reluctance to engage with the franchise again on multiple occasions, stating that the role exhausted her. Given this, it's unsurprising that her stance on a potential return in the Jon Snow spin-off hasn't changed.
'I don't think so,' the actress gave her very definitive answer when asked by the press if she would reprise her role. 'Kit, I love you. I'mma watch that one 'cause of you or I'mma tell you that I did, but I won't be in it. No, I don't think so.'
The Actress Has Moved on to Other Projects
Most importantly, Emilia Clarke has starred in a number of projects since GoT. Last Christmas, The Pod Generation, and Secret Invasion are just a few examples. Clearly, the actress has been doing well and revisiting the iconic franchise would hardly do anything for her career at this point. Therefore, the answer is no, Daenerys Targaryen will most likely not be featured in the Jon Snow spin-off.
