Wild Cruel Summer Theory Reveals Who Killed Luke and Filmed the Tape

During the transition from Season 1 to Season 2, Cruel Summer went from a convoluted 'she said, she said' story to a murder mystery. But at its core, the show hasn't changed. It's still about teenagers in a fictional small town, its timeline still spans three consecutive time periods, and, most importantly, the series still inspires numerous fan theories.

Set in 1999–2000, Season 2 of Cruel Summer focuses on one year in the lives of three teenagers — Megan, Isabella and Luke — their friendship, and tumultuous relationships. But not every one of them is destined to make it to the end of the year. At the end of Episode 1, Luke's body is found in the local lake, and Megan and Isabella become the prime suspects. But can they really be murderers?

The premiere season of the Freeform thriller proved that its plot can get as twisted as possible and come to a very surprising finale. Sure enough, the investigation into Luke's death in Season 2 unearths dark secrets and intriguing developments. One of the biggest pieces of evidence and plot drivers is a sex tape between Luke and Megan that becomes a huge scandal in the community.

Many fans believe that finding out who filmed and leaked the tape could lead to the prime suspect in the murder. So, after the latest episode, Redditor u/comedictea came up with a new theory of who could have made the tape and killed Luke.

'I have a feeling it's Brent's girlfriend. Maybe because Megan slept with him and was pregnant with his baby and she found out. Could also explain why Luke wanted to run away,' the Redditor wrote. 'Also in Episode 2, we see her get super friendly with Isabella. It's giving me major Mallory vibes from Season 1, and we all know she ended up being guilty.'

Parker, the girlfriend of Luke's older brother Brent, has been a minor character so far. However, she is believed to have a connection to the tape since she was in a friend group with Jeff, a teenager who films everything with his video camera, and Brent, who was caught making sex tapes with minors.

This suggests that Parker definitely could have leaked the tape. But would she kill Luke?

In the comments, fans doubted that Megan's possible pregnancy would be reason enough to kill. But just like in Season 1, nothing is out of the question. The upcoming episodes of Cruel Summer will show if the Redditor was up to something.
