Spider-Man: Brand New Day is poised to collide with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, with Brad Winderbaum teasing overlapping arcs and a coordinated rollout as Marvel doubles down on its street-level New York saga.

Marvel is tightening the web around its New York heroes. The next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is now set to link directly with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Not exactly shocking if you have been watching the studio quietly rebuild its street-level corner, but there are some telling details here.

What Marvel just said out loud

Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly at New York Comic Con that the Spider-Man and Daredevil teams are actively coordinating. In his words:

We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there is coherence there... it very much exists in the same world and it is important.

He also emphasized that the two projects will feel different even as they share continuity. Think of it like the comics: Daredevil and Punisher bring a grittier view of New York than Spider-Man does, but they still affect each other. As Winderbaum put it, everything lines up, the impacts are felt, and they can still tell different kinds of stories.

Where we left everyone

Spider-Man and Daredevil first crossed paths in the MCU during Spider-Man: No Way Home, when Peter Parker (Tom Holland) needed a lawyer after his identity blew up online and he turned to Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) for help. That cameo officially pulled Daredevil into the main MCU timeline.

Daredevil: Born Again launched on Disney+ in March 2025, picking up the Netflix threads and pushing them further. Matt Murdock finds himself up against Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), who wins the New York mayoral race and consolidates power. By the finale, Fisk has clamped down hard on the city and outlawed vigilantism.

Season 2 has already wrapped filming and brings back Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, with Marvel using that return to tee up a standalone Punisher special.

On the Spidey side, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and continues Peter Parker's story after Doctor Strange's memory-wipe spell at the end of No Way Home.

  • Yes, the connection is real: Brand New Day ties into Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
  • Winderbaum says the teams are coordinating to keep continuity tight.
  • Same world, different vibes: Spider-Man stays Spider-Man, Daredevil stays gritty, but the fallout carries across.
  • Born Again hit Disney+ in March 2025; Fisk ends Season 1 as NYC mayor and bans vigilantism.
  • Season 2 has finished shooting; Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle ahead of a Punisher special.
  • Brand New Day, from director Destin Daniel Cretton, picks up Peter's life post-memory wipe.

What that probably means for the stories

Marvel is essentially rebuilding the NYC sandbox so the heroes can bounce off each other without every project feeling the same. Expect character decisions and power plays (hi, Mayor Fisk) to ripple from Born Again into Brand New Day, even if the tone swings from bruised knuckles to web-slinging quips. No plot specifics yet, but the studio clearly wants these releases to land as a coordinated one-two punch for the street-level side of the MCU.
