Season 1 of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, also known as Superman, was released in late 2019.

The second season was released in late 2021. And Season 3 is scheduled for mid-2023, according to the official announcement. As the middle of the year is approaching, fans of the series are wondering why there hasn't been a teaser yet.

According to reports, the filming of the third season of The Witcher was completed in September 2022. Half a year into post-production, fans are eager for details about the series' release date. There seems to be an understanding that post-production can take a long time.

In the case of VFX saturated visuals, it can take even longer than the actual shooting. This may well be the case with The Witcher, as it is full of monsters, magic and medieval battles and castles. After all, they don't just appear out of nowhere.

For example, the third season of His Dark Materials had a year-long delay between the end of filming and the release of the trailer.

Some fans speculate that the delay is a marketing ploy to cover up the many shortcomings of The Witcher.

First and foremost, the showrunners must be hyping up Season 3 to hide the fact that it's poorly written, these people suggest, judging by Season 2. It's a good argument, considering that the longer an audience waits, the more eager they are to watch a movie or a show. Since The Witcher's writing doesn't measure up, its creators have to find another way to keep the audience interested. Why not build excitement around the upcoming season?

What's more, The Witcher's showrunners must believe that such anticipation for Season 3 will make viewers forget that it will be Henry Cavill's last season as The Witcher, according to fans of the series.

While it can hardly make up for The Witcher without the Witcher, the delay has sparked a discussion. The more reasonable point, however, is that the series is still in post-production. After all, Season 3 is scheduled for mid-summer.

There's plenty of time to finish the CGI and release teasers and trailers to warm up the audience. There are also rumors that the third season of The Witcher has been delayed until the end of the year. Such a move would be logical considering that the other two seasons were released in December.

Anyway, we have yet to see the teaser, the trailer, and Season 3 itself. And it's wonderful that anticipation is brewing.
