Chainsaw Man revs back with a feature-length canon sequel as The Movie: Reze Arc storms U.S. theaters October 24, 2025, adapting the explosive Bomb Devil arc fans hail as one of the manga’s best.

Chainsaw Man is revving back up, this time with a canon sequel film that actually matters to the story. 'Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc' hits U.S. theaters on October 24, 2025, adapting the Bomb Devil arc (aka the Reze arc) — a stretch of the manga a lot of fans rank as one of the best. It is animated by MAPPA, because of course it is.

What to expect (without spoilers)

At its core, this movie is Denji getting blindsided by something he absolutely is not built for: real feelings. Enter Reze. The fallout from that meeting ricochets through Public Safety, old enemies, and new devils. If season 1 felt like a chase for Denji’s heart (literally), don’t expect that target on his chest to vanish here. Also worth flagging for anime-only viewers: this film brings in a few fresh faces you have not met on screen yet — and shuffles some partnerships in ways that should be fun/chaotic.

The key players (and who voices them)

  • Reze — The title doesn’t bluff. Reze steps into the story as the girl who throws Denji’s brain and heart into a blender. She’s the person who forces him to weigh what he wants from Makima versus what he wants for himself. Saying more would spoil the arc’s gut punches.

JP: Reina Ueda | EN: Alexis Tipton

  • Makima — The calm, endlessly unreadable head of Public Safety’s Devil Hunters. She sells a mission of protecting people and erasing devils, but the full scope of what she can do is still not on the table in the anime. The movie might crack that door open a bit.

JP: Tomori Kusunoki | EN: Suzie Yeung

  • Denji — Our chainsaw-brained lead just wants naps and decent meals, which, given his childhood, is a pretty lofty dream. Unfortunately, being Chainsaw Man means everyone with an agenda wants what’s inside his chest. Season 1 proved that. This arc doesn’t let up.

JP: Kikunosuke Toya | EN: Ryan Colt

  • Pochita — The Chainsaw Devil himself, fused with Denji’s heart and still the most fought-over organ in the room. Expect more glimpses of the bond that made Denji who he is.

JP: Shiori Izawa | EN: Lindsay Seidel

  • Aki Hayakawa — Public Safety’s cool head with a personal vendetta: the Gun Devil is his white whale. After his contract with the Future Devil and everything that cost him, his clock is ticking — and he knows it. Resolve? Unshaken.

JP: Shogo Sakata | EN: Reagan Murdock

  • Power — A fiend (devil in a human body), specifically the Blood Devil in a very committed human cosplay. Smarter than most devils, louder than everyone, and a wildly unreliable partner to Denji in all the ways that make good TV.

JP: Fairouz Ai | EN: Sarah Wiedenheft

  • Kishibe — The veteran who trained Denji and Power by basically trying to kill them until they learned something. Canonically the strongest human Devil Hunter, perpetually unflappable, and notably skeptical of Makima’s whole deal (season 1 made that pretty clear).

JP: Kenjiro Tsuda | EN: Jason Douglas

  • Kobeni — Works for the paycheck, not the glory. Terrified of devils, terrifying against humans. Peak Kobeni is equal parts panic and knife.

JP: Karin Takahashi | EN: Bryn Apprill

  • Beam — The Shark Devil makes his anime debut here. He can swim through solid floors and walls like it’s nothing. Makima assigns him as Denji’s new partner, and he is oddly obsessed with Chainsaw Man for reasons we don’t have yet.

JP: Natsuki Hanae | EN: Derick Snow

  • Angel — The Angel Devil, stationed with Public Safety but allergic to effort. He’s not out to hurt humans, but do not touch him unless you want your remaining lifespan shaved down. Aki gets paired with him, which should be... delicate.

JP: Maaya Uchida | EN: Casey Mongillo

  • Galgali — Better known as the Violence Devil. He feeds on chaos, technically works for the organization, and is aligned with humans for reasons that are mostly self-serving. How big a role he plays here is still a question mark.

JP: Yuuya Uchida | EN: Josh Bangle
