Who's the Father? Cruel Summer Fans Have a Theory About Megan's Pregnancy Already

When Cruel Summer came out in 2021, the teen drama series won over viewers across different generations with its harshly intense and chilling storytelling. Revolving around a mysterious crime, the show secured a second season, which premiered its first episode on June 5 this year. However, the new story has nothing to do with the series' previous season.

Season 2 of Cruel Summer follows Megan, Isabella, and Luke during the 1999–2000 period — from summer to summer. As of the most recent, fourth episode, Luke is dead, and Isabella and Megan are the main suspects. The police believe that Megan is (or was) pregnant with Luke's baby, which supposedly gave her the motive for killing him.

However, fans aren't so convinced that Megan is or ever was pregnant with Luke's baby, suggesting their own ideas as to who might be the child's father.

Megan and Luke were in a relationship before he disappeared, but this doesn't give us enough evidence to believe he is the father of Megan's child. If the two conceived the baby in winter before Luke went missing, this means that Megan would be approaching her third trimester by summer, and her round tummy would be visible already. However, the implied miscarriage in Episode 4 suggests that Megan's pregnancy is pretty recent.

Because of these inconsistencies, Cruel Summer fans are forced to speculate and come up with theories about who the baby's father might be. Megan has interacted with a number of male characters during the course of the series, and three of them are suitable candidates for the role.

First and foremost, there is Jeff who has had a crush on Megan for a long time. Their relationship is unconfirmed, but fans suspect that something may have been brewing between the two off-screen.

Next, there's Brent — Luke's older brother who secretly filmed him and Isabella having sex and showed the tape to Megan. Given Brent's perverted tendencies and implicit obsession with his brother's ex, viewers speculate that he might have forced Megan into sleeping with him, and that's how she got pregnant.

Lastly, people suggest Steve, Brent and Luke's dad, as another character who could be the father of Megan's baby. While he is the most improbable candidate, some viewers point out that Steve is suspiciously nice to Megan and her mother, which may be a sign of his good nature or suggest that he actually nurses an unhealthy fascination with the teenage girl.

So, this sets up great intrigue for the next episode of Cruel Summer, which will be released on June 26, 2023.
