Who's the Actress Playing Destiny in The Idol? Here's Other Shows You Can See Her In

People loved Destiny a lot more than other characters.

Sam Levinson's The Idol is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about shows of the year, and the excessive amount of nudity in the show is a big reason for that. However, even though The Weeknd's performance as sleazy cult leader Tedros leaves much to be desired, fans are still praising Lily-Rose Depp and Hank Azaria for their acting chops, citing their performances as the only real reason to continue watching the show.

But it seems that The Idol's biggest breakout star is not Depp or The Weeknd; Da'Vine Joy Randolph steals the show as Destiny, Jocelyn's co-manager.

In the show, Destiny is introduced as a loyal supporter of Jocelyn and a rare person who genuinely cares about the pop star's well-being. So, when Tedros begins to use his influence over Jocelyn, Destiny starts pushing back against him, working with Azaria's character to devise a plan to free the singer. While we will have to wait until the final episode to find out how the story ends, one thing is for sure: Randolph has a bright future in Hollywood, and all of her previous roles seem to back that up.

Before joining The Idol, Randolph had already had quite a career in television, landing her first significant role on ABC's Selfie and later starring in projects like This Is Us, People of Earth, and Empire. And while she has been busy over the past decade, it wasn't until 2022 that Randolph truly became a force to be reckoned with.

That year, she appeared again as Detective Williams in Only Murders in the Building while also starring in the movie On the Come Up and voicing Mama Luna (the crazy cat lady) in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. After such a busy year, it was clear that Randolph was going places, and her major role in The Idol looks like the first big place she went.

With upcoming appearances in films like Rustin and Alexander Payne's The Holdovers, it seems that Randolph will become a huge star in no time, making her decade-long effort to break into the mainstream totally worth it.
