Who's Matilda Broadbridge, Pippa Middleton's Actress in The Crown Season 6?
Netflix's The Crown just gave us a new celebrity crush.
Remember Philippa 'Pippa' Middleton, who stunned the world with her form-fitting bridesmaid dress at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding?
The character of Kate's younger sister and British socialite will appear in the highly anticipated final season of The Crown, which premieres in two parts on November 16 and December 14 of this year. And her casting looks very intriguing.
Meg Bellamy, who will portray Kate, and Ed McVey playing Prince William will be joined by 19-year-old Matilda Broadbridge. The young actress took to social media last week to express her excitement about the role, which is sure to be a breakthrough in her career.
'A very short but very sweet trip to crown land, so excited to announce that I'll be appearing as Pippa Middleton in @thecrownnetflix so grateful to have been a tiny part of this production and for this experience, keep your eyes peeled,' Broadbridge captioned an Instagram photo of herself outside her own on-set trailer.
From obscurity to fame
If you're wondering where you've seen this face, you probably haven't. Matilda was part of the National Youth Theatre, but has no acting credits to her name. The role of Pippa Middleton will be the first notable line in her resume. But what a line it is!
The beauty of The Crown and other popular streaming shows is the creative freedom they give their cast and crew. The casting of Matilda Broadbridge was surprising, as the actress who beat out thousands of other contenders is a few years younger than her character and previously unknown to the spotlight.
But The Crown casting team has proven time and time again that they have a special radar for hidden gems of young talent. And looking at Broadbridge, we can see her rocking Pippa's bridesmaid's dress without even blinking.
Sadly, that won't be happening on screen, as the royal wedding won't be part of the series. We will say goodbye to the future Waleses before they tie the knot. According to Perth Now, Broadbridge's character will appear in the second half of the new season for a short scene in which her sister tells her all about meeting the future king.
No matter how brief the role may be, the Royal High School graduate has certainly struck gold. Participating in such a hit project is sure to open many doors for the young talent. So remember this face now. There's a good chance you'll see it again.
