Who's in the Boston Blue TV Series Cast? You've Seen Them Before, Trust Us

Boston Blue is officially on the way, and if you're a Blue Bloods lifer, you're probably already bracing for the cast shakeups.
The new CBS spin-off picks up with Donnie Wahlberg's Danny Reagan moving from New York's finest to Boston PD — and naturally, it comes with a whole new supporting squad.
But don't worry. Most of these faces? You've definitely seen them before.
Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan
No surprises here. Donnie Wahlberg headlines Boston Blue, sticking with the character that's kept him busy for 14 seasons of Blue Bloods. Wahlberg is also pulling double duty as an executive producer on the new series.
If you know Wahlberg only as the New Kid on the Block, you've been missing out — his take on the tough, sometimes hotheaded detective has been the emotional center of Blue Bloods for years.
Sonequa Martin-Green as Detective Lena Peters
Sonequa Martin-Green joins the series as Lena Peters, Danny's new partner at Boston PD. Within the story, Peters is the eldest daughter of a big-deal Boston law enforcement family — think Boston's answer to the Reagans.
You've probably watched Martin-Green before:
- As Sasha on The Walking Dead
- As Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery
She's no stranger to leading a cast, and she's bringing that same commanding energy here.
Mika Amonsen as Sean Reagan
Now here's the casting curveball: Mika Amonsen steps in to play Danny's son, Sean Reagan. If that sounds odd, it's because Andrew Terraciano played Sean for all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods — until now.
Why the change? No official reason yet. Terraciano was practically raised on the original set, appearing in 292 episodes, but he isn't involved in Boston Blue.
You might've caught Mika Amonsen in Suits or Reacher, though neither role made waves. This is his shot at a breakout.
Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters
Yes, that Ernie Hudson. The Ghostbusters alum plays Reverend Peters, father to Sonequa Martin-Green's Lena. Hudson's been on a roll lately — if you skipped his excellent run on Oz or the L.A.'s Finest spinoff, go back and fix that.
In Boston Blue, expect him to bring gravitas, authority, and that familiar steady screen presence.
Who's Producing Boston Blue?
This is a Jerry Bruckheimer production, so expect slick visuals, high-stakes drama, and at least one car chase per episode. Behind the scenes:
- Jerry Bruckheimer: Executive Producer
- KristieAnne Reed: Executive Producer
- Brandon Sonnier & Brandon Margolis: Writers & Executive Producers. The duo previously worked on LA's Finest and The Blacklist.
CBS hasn't confirmed if Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan) or any other Reagan family members will make cameos, but fan speculation is already in overdrive. With the family ties running deep, don't be shocked if a familiar mustache shows up in Boston at some point.
When Does Boston Blue Premiere?
- Premiere Date: October 17, 2025
- Rating: TV-14
- Network: CBS
If you've been craving more Reagan family drama, Boston Blue is locked and loaded to fill the void left by Blue Bloods' cancellation in 2024. Just don't expect every old face to return — this is Boston's turf now.
