Who Is The Voice 24 Contestant That Broke Gwen Stefani's Heart?

It's only been three weeks since the first episode of Season 24 of The Voice aired, but it's already introduced many talented artists to a wider audience. Six episodes of blind auditions have aired so far, with the latest round premiering last night.

Although it wasn't as grand as the previous fifth episode of The Voice 24, it was still quite intense in terms of the contestants' performances. For instance, one artist won over the audience from the moment he struck his first note. Interestingly, he seemed to have a great rapport with Gwen Stefani. Unfortunately, that didn't help her as the contestant chose Team John Legend.

Delivering a lively cover of this Latino hit, Willie Gomez stunned the audience with his breathy voice and subtle dance moves. Gwen Stefani was instantly smitten and was the first to turn her chair. Reba McEntire followed suit moments later, while John and Niall were the last to turn their chairs. It goes without saying that Gwen was disappointed to have to compete with all the other coaches for the contestant.

'I thought I had you,' she said the moment Willie finished his song.

'You still have me,' the contestant replied, sending a thrilling vibe.

The two seemed to have such palpable chemistry that when Gwen called Willie gorgeous, Niall humorously sent Blake Shelton a message: 'Blake, she is flirting his pants off.'

However, Willie Gomez chose Team Legend in the end, breaking Gwen's heart.

'We're locking eyes, like, this whole chemistry thing. Woosh! Doesn't choose me. Chooses John fricking Legend,' a seemingly upset Gwen commented on the audition.

Who's Willie Gomez?

Before The Voice, Willie already had a moderately successful career in music. He's a fairly well-known Latin musician who released his latest single in May. His album Del Cibao, which comprises Gomez's most popular songs, was released in 2022.

In addition to his singing endeavors, Willie is also a professional backup dancer. Throughout his extensive career in the industry, he has worked with such artists as Britney Spears – Gomez is said to have appeared in three of her music videos – Kesha, Kylie Minogue, and Katy Perry. Moreover, he participated in the first season of the American version of The X-Factor as a lead dancer.

Now, we are set to see more of Willie Gomez on The Voice 24. The next episode is scheduled for October 16.
