The actor who played Radovid has had a decent career.

Netflix's The Witcher Season 3 introduced new characters, many of whom will be familiar to book series fans, such as Margarita Laux-Antille and Keira Metz, powerful sorcerers and friends of Yen. But perhaps most intriguing was the introduction of Prince Radovid, who, however, is rather different from his book counterpart.

Despite the differences from the source material, he is an incredibly intriguing character, as he is destined to inherit Redania and go down in history as one of the greatest threats to both Nilfgaard and the sorceresses. He is played by the talented English actor Hugh Skinner. So who is Hugh Skinner, and where might we have seen him before?

Netflix's The Witcher made an important change from the books by tackling Radovid's sexuality head-on. He has an affair with Jaskier, who, in the series, is more of a pansexual/panromantic. We don't know if it was in the script or something the actors improvised, but Hugh Skinner, who is openly gay, was very happy about this new spin on the story.

'I wouldn't want to predict how anyone might respond to it, but all I can say, as a gay guy myself, is it was a thrilling opportunity to play an LGBTQ+ character in a show of this genre and with this much reach. It's just been so exciting and a real privilege,' he shared.

The actor was born in London on 6 January 1985. He studied drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and, after graduating, pursued a career in theatre while also appearing in television.

His acting breakthrough came in the 2012 musical film Les Misérables, where he played a medical student and Les Amis de l'ABC Joly member. 2018 saw him appear in another musical, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, where he played the young Harry Bright, whose adult version is portrayed by Colin Firth.

Hugh also starred in the British sitcom The Windsors, which satirised the royal family. The actor played the parody role of Prince William. Speaking of his latest roles, not counting The Witcher, in 2022, he appeared in the horror film The Invitation, which became a box-office success despite a modest budget.

We wish the actor all the best in his career and look forward to seeing more of Radovid as the war with Nilfgaard breaks out in the second part of Season 3, which will be released on 27 July.
