The singer has teased an upcoming release.

It's been four months since the finale of American Idol's twenty-first season aired, but we still fondly reminisce about the season that gave us a new star. Featuring the most talented contestants the show had ever seen, season 21 was ultimately won by young and swoon-worthy Hawaiian singer Iam Tongi.

Iam Tongi won over American Idol's fans right in the first episode of the show, which premiered on February 19th, with his rendition of James Blunt’s Monsters. Tongi's heartbreaking story about his father's untimely passing brought the judges and many viewers to tears. Meanwhile, the performer's mild and amiable demeanor granted him fans' adoration throughout the entire season that he later won. Naturally, you might be wondering what Iam has been up to lately?

Touring and Writing New Music

Since his victory on American Idol 21, Iam Tongi has been busy with his music career. He teamed up with James Blunt to record a duet cover of Monsters. More importantly, Iam appeared on morning news shows, performing and using the platform to raise awareness for the devastating Maui fires.

Moreover, the American Idol 21 winner has been touring both as a supporting act and a headliner – in fact, he's in the middle of his tour that will take him all over the US and also Australia and New Zealand.

Today, on September 20th, Iam Tongi is expected to open for Common Kings at Granary Live in Salt Lake City, Utah. On September 21st, the nineteen-year-old musician will reportedly perform in Las Vegas.

New Releases

It hasn't been quite enough time since Iam Tongi rose to fame as the winner of American Idol's twenty-first season, so he hasn't yet managed to record a full album. Nonetheless, the young artist has prepared a new single, ingeniously titled Why Kiki? which he teased on his Twitter.

Set for release on September 22d, the new song pays tribute to Iam Tongi's Hawaiian heritage. The singer's fans are unanimously 'super excited and can't wait to hear it.'

Maybe we can expect a full album in the near future. As for now, way to go, Iam!
