With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, Namor star Tenoch Huerta lifts the curtain on his first on-set encounter with Robert Downey Jr., offering praise and a glimpse of the energy behind the scenes.
Tenoch Huerta, aka Namor, is in Avengers: Doomsday, and he just told a very human little story about bumping into Robert Downey Jr. on set. It is exactly the kind of moment you picture happening on a Marvel soundstage: an actor dropping by to chat with the bosses, only to find Iron Man himself hovering over the monitors.
Tenoch meets RDJ (and loses his cool a little)
In an interview with El Capipi Perez, Huerta went full fan for a second and talked about how absurdly youthful and movie-star-y Downey still looks. The clip made the rounds with a translation courtesy of the Avengers Updates account on X, posted October 18, 2025.
'He is really handsome, dude. The guy looks really young too. What happened was that I was not in the scene; I went to see the directors. I wanted to talk to them about some lines and also meet them face to face. When I was there, the guy came over to check the monitors and I said, "Ah, no way!" I really said, "Damn, I left my kneepads back at the hotel, man!"'
Quick clarification on that last line: in Spanish, that kneepads bit is a cheeky turn of phrase that does not translate cleanly. The gist is he was totally starstruck. Not literal. Just an embarrassed, funny way to say he felt like bowing to the king of the MCU.

One small behind-the-scenes note
Huerta mentions he was not filming that day and had stopped by to talk through some lines with the directors face to face. That is when Downey rolled up to the monitors. It is a tiny detail, but it paints the picture: these sets are swarming with familiar faces, even when people are not actively shooting.
