The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus Hints Daryl Dixon's Story Won't End With Season 4

Norman Reedus has dropped fresh hints that Daryl Dixon’s journey may continue beyond Season 4, keeping fans guessing about what’s next for the iconic survivor. Could more twists and adventures be on the way for the beloved Walking Dead character?
File this under: endings that might not be endings. Norman Reedus says The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is wrapping with Season 4, but he is not ruling out more Daryl somewhere else in the franchise.
What Reedus actually said
"We kind of perpetuated that it was always the plan, but that really wasn't the plan. It was kind of the plan in the end."
Talking to Comic Book Resources while Season 3 is rolling out, Reedus said the four-season finish line for Daryl Dixon was not some long-term master plan from day one. It was something that solidified later, and the cast kept saying it was the plan once it became the plan. Classic TV development in a nutshell.
So is Season 4 really the end?
End of this show? Yes. End of Daryl? Maybe not. Reedus admitted he does not control those calls and does not know what happens next, but he floated the possibility that the character could pop up in another project down the line. He also sounded content with how far they have taken this corner of the universe, while reminding everyone that even the original series lasted way longer than he expected back at the start.
Where Daryl Dixon stands right now
- The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon launched in 2023 and follows Daryl after he washes up in France post-main series.
- Season 3 is currently underway.
- AMC has confirmed a fourth season, which will conclude this specific spin-off.
- Reedus says the character could continue elsewhere, but nothing is set and he does not know what that would be.
Translation: the show ends with Season 4, but the door is cracked for future Daryl cameos/spin-offs/whatever AMC cooks up. It is The Walking Dead, after all.
