Vince Gilligan Puts Rhea Seehorn In Charge Of Pluribus Season 1’s Game-Changing Decision
Pluribus is renewed for Season 2, with Vince Gilligan diving deeper into sci-fi and eager to keep the saga going alongside Rhea Seehorn—this ride is just getting started.
Good news for the Pluribus faithful: Season 2 is happening. Apple TV+ quietly ordered two seasons from the start, so the renewal was baked in before anyone even pressed play. Vince Gilligan is staying in his sci-fi era with Rhea Seehorn at the center, and after that two-episode premiere on November 7, 2025, the show feels less like alien-invasion mayhem and more like a thoughtful, odd, very Gilligan take on what makes us human. In other words: we are just getting warmed up.
Yes, Season 2 is a go
To put it plainly, Season 2 was never in doubt. Apple TV+ gave Pluribus a two-season order pre-launch. There is no release date yet for Season 2, and no episode count either, but the early response to the premiere has expectations sky-high. For now, we wait for the rest of Season 1 to roll out.
Gilligan is already thinking beyond a simple two-and-out. Speaking to Variety on November 8, 2025, he sketched out how long he thinks this could run and how flexible he is about where it all lands.
"I'd love to see Pluribus go as long as Rhea Seehorn wants it to go... Maybe four seasons, who the hell knows"
"I think we have a pretty good idea of where it should end. One of the most important things I can do in the writers' room is not be too precious about the ideas. If we come up with a better way to end this thing, we will."
Translation: he has an endpoint in mind, but if a better ending shows up in the writers room, he will chase it. That approach worked out pretty well for him before.
What kind of sci-fi is this?
If you are expecting a paint-by-numbers alien attack, this is not that show. Pluribus leans philosophical and character-first, using its sci-fi setup to poke at identity, morality, and the whole messy question of what it means to be human. It is strange in smart ways, and Seehorn is exactly the anchor you want for that kind of storytelling.

If you are hopping on now, Apple TV+ has a 7-day free trial; after that it is $9.99 per month in the U.S. You can also get it through Apple One if you are bundled up with other Apple services.
