[VIDEO] OG Fortnite Meme Olympics Goes Viral For All the Wrong Reasons
The wackiest Olympics ever. Only in Fortnite OG!
Summary
- Epic launched Fortnite OG on November 3, revisiting the first Chapter of the game from Season 1 to Season 5.
- Of course, along with the original map and items, the silliest memes and challenges are also back!
- LazarBeam, known for his Meme Olympics, held another match, this time on the OG map, and the video spread like wildfire.
Thanks to its wild style and gameplay, Fortnite has spawned a huge amount of memes since its launch in the fall of 2017.
As the years go by, the game's audience continues to grow with new players, and Epic continues to update the map, content, and increasingly insane season items, weapons, and vehicles. And yet, something doesn't feel right! What happened to the days of regularly Snapchatting every kill we made, the heated discussions about whether or not to land in Tilted Towers as usual, and the hilarious memes?
Luckily, this month Epic Games has given us a great opportunity to go back to five years ago, as a new chapter, running from November 3 to December 2, is dedicated to... well, Chapter 1! Yes, the one with shopping carts, useless covered bridges, and equally useless but incredibly fun challenges. And no one comes up with more ridiculous challenges than youtuber LazarBeam. He organized another Meme Olympics, this time on the OG map, and the video went viral.
Brave Olympians Battle for a Gold Medal
Lazar, as well as other Youtubers whose content is also largely dedicated to Fortnite, McCreamy, mau, and Lachlan, gathered for the eighth time (though the first for Lachy) to participate in seven of the craziest challenges Lazar himself has ever come up with. On the original map, they had to survive being on skybases, perform a successful rocket ride, split into two groups, last the longest in the air, be the first to find a chuck jug, perform a successful assassination on being in a respawn van, win the shopping cart race, and make it to the end disguised as a bush. And of course, the Olympians were hindered by other players trying to kill them.
What was the prize, you ask? Well, $1000 for charity and... a personal portrait on Lazar's wall, which he plans to take down soon anyway. As a result, the new Meme Olympics has racked up over 4 million views, as many were happy to return to the original Fortnite days with their inherent jokes. Well, if you're wondering who won, it was Lachy, not that it did him any favors.
Fortnite OG will come to an end on Saturday, December 2 at approximately 12 p.m. EST with the so-called original Season X. Just like when Chapter 1 ended back in faraway 2019, there will first be a live event called 'The Big Bang' that will officially end the season, and then the servers will go offline for an unspecified amount of time so Epic Games can add new modes and features. So you still have a week to live out all the crazy challenges and memes that the original Fortnite was known for!
