Where it actually shows up (not its dog house)

You will see a dog house for this pet parked next to the Pet Shop on Adoption Island, which makes it look like that is where you get it. It is not. The Black Dog spawns out in the open and wanders the roads around the island at a slow walk. If you circle the area for a minute or two you will likely bump into it.

If you want a specific spot: I found it roaming the road behind the Pet Shop, across the river on the far side. You will know you have the right one when you see a black dog with red glowing eyes and a spiky collar.

How to buy it

Walk up, interact, and it lets you purchase the pet permanently for 43,000 Candies. If you are short on Candies, there is a detour: the Pet Releaser NPC lets you spend Pet Releaser Points on eggs that have a small chance to hatch the Black Dog. A Basic Egg costs 500 Pet Releaser Points; a Crystal Egg costs 4,500 Pet Releaser Points. Odds are low, but it is an option if you are sitting on points.

• The Hauntlet (near the Arcade on Adoption Island): A door-dodging minigame where you push through as many rooms as you can without losing all your hearts. The deeper you go (and the less you get snagged by the ghost), the more Candies you pocket when you exit.
