Dead Weight lands on Paramount+ this weekend, as Tulsa King hits a boiling point and Dwight Manfredi’s tightening hold on Tulsa draws danger from familiar faces and new adversaries.

New week, new fire to walk through. Tulsa King season 3 keeps pushing Dwight Manfredi to the brink, and episode 9 — titled 'Dead Weight' — is set to shove him a few steps closer. We are talking fallout from a brutal betrayal, power plays from old ghosts, and a city that gets messier every time Dwight tightens his grip.

Heads up: spoilers for season 3, episode 8 below.

Last week: Deacon blew up the trust (and tried to blow up Dwight)

Episode 8, 'Nothing Is Over', finally put a face on the mole: Deacon. Dwight and his crew smoked out his double-cross and discovered a bomb plot at a Carl Thresher fundraiser meant to kill both Dwight and Margaret. That sent Dwight on a sprint to stop a very public execution, and it pulled Agent Musso into a nasty gray zone — Deacon murdered Musso's partner, and revenge was doing a number on his judgment.

Even so, Dwight muscled a temporary truce out of Musso and managed to capture Deacon, which gave him leverage but not peace. The win felt hollow for a reason: Jeremiah Dunmire's shadow kept stretching across the board, and the show made it pretty clear that the enemies are multiplying, not thinning out.

What to expect in 'Dead Weight'

If you are new here, the quick version: Dwight is a New York mafia capo who ate 25 years in prison, got shipped to Tulsa as a consolation prize, and is now realizing the people who sent him there may not actually be on his side. Season 3 has been the bill for all of that catching up to him.

Episode 9 brings a few big swings. Russell Lee Washington Jr. is back — yes, Samuel L. Jackson returns — and his agenda is, let’s say, deliberately murky. He knows Dwight too well for this to be a casual drop-in, so expect a meeting with history baked into every line and the kind of tension that makes you lean forward.

On the home front, Dwight has to deal with the stink of Deacon's betrayal while tightening ranks around a threat map that just keeps widening. Jeremiah Dunmire is not backing off; his camp is escalating, and Dwight looks locked in for a collision that is going to decide who actually runs this turf. Episode 9 is the runway to the finale, so do not expect tidy wins or clean hands.

The temperature check

Dwight captured a traitor last week and still felt like he lost a piece of himself doing it. That unease is the point. With alliances thinning and trust evaporating, the question now is whether Dwight's empire can stand one more hit — or if all these old debts are finally coming due.

Tulsa King season 3, episode 9 streams exclusively on Paramount+.
