Tragedy Strikes Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Wenne Alton Davis Dies in Car Crash
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actor Wenne Alton Davis has died at 60 after being struck by an SUV, her agent confirmed, as authorities release details of the crash.
This is a gut-punch. Wenne Alton Davis, an actor you might recognize from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died at 60 after a collision in Midtown Manhattan. Her agent confirmed the news, and police laid out what happened.
What happened in Midtown
Davis was crossing West 53rd Street and Broadway in Manhattan when a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 making a left turn hit her. It happened Monday, December 8, a little after 9 p.m., according to police.
An NYPD official said she sustained severe trauma to her head and body. EMS took her to Mount Sinai West, where she was pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene and was not injured. As of now, there have been no arrests; the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is handling the case.
Her path to the screen
Davis moved to New York in her 20s to chase stand-up, then widened her focus to acting while holding down a security job at Kennedy International Airport to pay the bills. Her agent, Jamie Harris, confirmed her death and tried to sum up who she was to the people around her.
"She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at J.F.K. and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge)."
