Prime Video’s live-action Tomb Raider just leveled up. A new series regular joins Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, with creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s series set to begin filming January 19, 2026.

Prime Video's Tomb Raider series is quietly loading up before it even steps on set, and now it just added another face to the party.

So, who's new?

Martin Bobb-Semple has joined the live-action Tomb Raider show as a series regular. Variety says character details are locked down for now, which is very on brand for this production. If the name rings a bell, you probably know him as Orlando Johnson from The CW's All American: Homecoming. He also popped up in Dixi, Free Rein, Pandora, and One of Us Is Lying.

Quick refresher on this Tomb Raider run

Sophie Turner is playing Lara Croft. The series comes from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is not just creating it but also co-showrunning with Chad Hodge. It has been in development at Prime Video since 2023 and officially got the green light in May 2024. The plan right now is to start filming on January 19, 2026. Yes, that date is a ways off, so manage your expectations on when we're actually going to see it.

"I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team," Waller-Bridge said when Turner was revealed. "It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out... Croft is coming..."

The team behind it

  • Producers: Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics (the game studio), and Amazon MGM Studios

Short version: Turner is set, the machine is moving, and Bobb-Semple is now on the roster. We still don't know who he's playing or what this version of Lara's story looks like, but with Crystal Dynamics in the mix and a start date planted in 2026, this one is clearly being built as a big swing. We'll see if Croft sticks the landing when the cameras finally roll.
