Tobey Maguire is reportedly swinging back as Spider-Man—this time in Avengers: Doomsday—per industry tipster Daniel Richtman and chatter on X.

Tobey Maguire might be swinging back into the MCU, and no, it is not for Spider-Man 4. The latest chatter says he will pop up in Avengers: Doomsday. File it under plausible but unconfirmed, with enough smoke to at least watch for a fire.

So, what is being reported?

Industry insider Daniel Richtman is saying Maguire will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, the fifth Avengers movie. The rumor has been picked up by accounts like @screentime on X. If it shakes out, that would be Maguire's second time in the MCU after Spider-Man: No Way Home, where his Peter 2 briefly teamed with Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield before heading back to his own universe. And yes, plenty of fans still call him the GOAT Spider-Man.

About that London sighting...

This is where things get interesting. A fan posted a photo with Maguire in London on September 7, 2025, right when both Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday were filming in the city. That timing lit up speculation that Maguire was there for one or both projects. Even more convenient: Doomsday's principal photography reportedly wrapped that same month, which would track if he already filmed something.

Is he the only Spidey showing up?

As of right now, no version of Spider-Man is officially confirmed for Doomsday. Maguire's involvement is still a report, not a studio announcement. Tom Holland has not been confirmed either. In fact, Richtman said back in October 2025 that Holland was not in Doomsday. That said, The Hollywood Reporter recently noted reshoots are planned for spring 2026, so Holland could still slip in if Marvel decides to thread that needle. Andrew Garfield has stayed out of the conversation publicly. For the moment, Maguire is the only webhead being specifically reported.

Where things stand

  • Maguire is reportedly in Avengers: Doomsday (per Daniel Richtman, amplified by @screentime on X); not confirmed by Marvel.
  • He last appeared as Peter 2 in No Way Home and returned to his own universe at the end.
  • Maguire was photographed in London on Sept. 7, 2025, while both Doomsday and Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day were filming there.
  • Doomsday's main shoot reportedly wrapped in Sept. 2025, which lines up with the timing if Maguire filmed then.
  • Richtman said in Oct. 2025 that Holland is not part of Doomsday, but spring 2026 reshoots (per THR) leave the door cracked.
  • Andrew Garfield remains a wild card with no reliable reports either way.
  • Avengers: Doomsday is currently dated for December 18, 2026.

Bottom line: the rumor makes sense, the timing checks out, and Marvel loves a multiversal surprise. Until someone official says the words, though, treat it like a very believable maybe.
