Tinker Bell Takes Flight as Disney+ Develops Live-Action Series Tink
Disney+ is developing Tink, a live-action series that puts Tinker Bell front and center, stepping out of Peter Pan’s shadow.
Disney is shaking more pixie dust out of the vault. Disney+ is developing a live-action Tinker Bell series called 'Tink' — a revival of a long-gestating project that once aimed to be a feature with Reese Witherspoon in the title role.
From stalled movie to Disney+ priority
Years ago, Disney had 'Tink' set up as a film with Witherspoon leading the charge. That version never took flight. Now the studio has dusted it off, rebuilt it as a series, and moved it up the to-do list. Translation: this one is actually happening.
Who is steering Neverland this time
Two Friday Night Lights veterans are running the show: Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter are writing and executive producing the series. Solid storytellers, big character chops — not a bad duo to hand a feisty fairy.
- Title: 'Tink'
- Format: Live-action series
- Destination: Disney+
- Leadership: Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter writing and executive producing
- Past iteration: Previously in development as a feature with Reese Witherspoon set to star
Why Tink, why now
Tinker Bell has been more than Peter Pan's sidekick for a while. Since her 1953 animated debut made her a studio icon, she has headlined multiple screen adventures. Giving her a solo series feels like the natural next step — and, yes, another notch in Disney's ongoing run of live-action reimaginings.

Scripts are in the works, the series is a priority, and that's about all that is locked publicly for now. More as it develops.
