Timothée Chalamet Outsmarts the EsDeeKid Rumor Mill With One Brilliant Move
Timothée Chalamet just blew up the EsDeeKid conspiracy. With one unexpected move, he shut down claims he’s the masked rapper behind Bally and Phantom.
Timothee Chalamet just did the most Timothee Chalamet thing possible with a rumor about his supposed rap alter ego: he leaned into the chaos, then blew it up with a collab.
The rumor
EsDeeKid, a masked Liverpool rapper behind tracks like 'Bally' and 'Phantom', has been racking up plays and mystery in equal measure. That combo invited a very online theory that Chalamet was the guy under the balaclava. Not helping matters: Chalamet can actually rap (throwback to his 'Lil Timmy Tim' era), and the eyes peeking out of EsDeeKid's mask looked familiar to some fans.
The tease
Asked about it on Heart Breakfast earlier this week, he played coy and had some fun with it.
"I got no comment on that. No, I mean, I got no comment... I've got two words on that. Two words: All will be revealed in due time."
The punchline
Cut to December 19, 2025: Chalamet pops up rapping alongside the real EsDeeKid on a remix of '4 Raws'. He shared the clip on X the same day, and fan accounts posted shots of the two together. So no, he is not EsDeeKid. He just jumped on a track with him. Identity crisis averted (for Timothee, anyway).
Why people thought it was him in the first place
This started bubbling when TikTok creator KJ Freeman floated the idea that Chalamet was living a double life and had even been spotted at an underground Fakemink show in London. The internet ran with it. Side-by-sides pointed out the similar eyes (the only visible feature in EsDeeKid's getup), the bandanas, the lanky build, even overlapping fashion choices. A November 14, 2025 tweet jokingly connected the dots, and the theory had legs from there.
So who is EsDeeKid, actually?
Short answer: still a secret. Longer answer: here is what is solid.
- He is a Liverpool rapper who broke out in 2024, first getting attention with 'Bally' featuring Rico Ace.
- He dropped his debut album, 'Rebel', in June 2025.
- Momentum really picked up after his Fakemink collaboration 'LV Sandals', and 'Phantom' is the one that turned him into a conversation piece.
- One trademark is his thick Scouse accent, which UK press have praised along with his gleefully debauched lyrics.
- Rolling Stone reported an alleged CashApp account linked to him under the name Damario Jones, but nothing has been confirmed.
Where this leaves things
Chalamet is not the masked rapper. He just did a featured verse with him. EsDeeKid's identity stays locked up for now, which, honestly, is part of the appeal. If and when the mask comes off, we will be here for it. Until then, enjoy the '4 Raws' remix and the fact that a Hollywood leading man just swerved an internet theory by hopping on the track himself.
