Timothée Chalamet has dropped the strongest hint yet about when Dune 3’s first trailer will arrive, stoking fresh buzz for our return to Arrakis.

Quick update from Arrakis: Timothee Chalamet just slipped in a small-but-tasty status check on Dune: Part Three. Short version: the first trailer exists, and it is apparently waiting in the wings.

So when are we actually seeing it?

Chalamet popped up on the French talk show Quotidien, and a clip doing the rounds on X (via user heyzineb) has him saying the first Dune: Part Three trailer is done and should be out very soon. No date attached, but with the Super Bowl looming, the internet speculation machine is already wondering if Warner Bros. is aiming for the biggest ad night of the year. To be clear: that part is just fan math, not an announcement.

What he told Quotidien, in essence: the first Dune: Part Three trailer is finished and coming very soon.

What this chapter covers

Denis Villeneuve is back directing, and this one adapts Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah. If you have not read it, this is the phase where Paul Atreides, now Emperor and worshiped by the Fremen as Muad'Dib, discovers that ruling the known universe is less fun than it sounds. He is boxed in by the political houses he displaced, there is a plot brewing even inside his own circle, House Atreides starts to wobble, and the most dangerous threat is aimed straight at Chani and the heir she is carrying.

Who is in it

  • Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides
  • Zendaya as Chani
  • Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan
  • Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho
  • Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck
  • Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica
  • Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II Atreides
  • Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides
  • Robert Pattinson in a role that is still under wraps

Yes, that is Duncan Idaho on the call sheet again. If you know the books, you know why that tracks; if you do not, just trust that Dune finds a way.

Production and release plan

Cameras rolled on Dune: Part Three in July 2025 and wrapped in November that same year. The movie is currently dated for December 18, 2026. That is the exact day Marvel Studios has planted for Avengers: Doomsday, which has fans preemptively dubbing the showdown 'Dunesday' in the spirit of 2023's Barbenheimer double feature. Start stretching now; that is going to be a long day at the movies.
