This Sylvie Bretts Detail Leaves Chicago Fire Fans All Confused

Sylvie Brett has been an integral part of the Chicago Fire crew since season 3, having joined Firehouse 51 as a replacement after Leslie Shay died on the job, and she has remained a constant on the series ever since, becoming a firm favorite among fans.

Fans have been following Sylvie’s journey since 2014, but recently, have noticed a change that doesn’t seem to have any reason behind it: Her ‘look’ has changed.

It’s been pointed out that Sylvie has drastically toned down her makeup game, adopting a more natural look, reminding fans of her look in earlier seasons. Besides her makeup becoming less prominent, fans are also pointing out that she appears to have lost weight, specifically in her face. Fans noticed the change in her appearance during the recent season, which ended with her adopting a baby girl, and Matt Casey proposing.

Her makeup change has nothing to do with her character's storyline, and in a recent Instagram post, Kara Killmer shared her on-set routine, including her makeup. In the description, Kara mentioned that her character's look has been curated by Karen Brody for the past 7 years.

Fans have pointed out that Killmer has played Sylvie for close to 10 years, she is 35 now, and aging is normal, this should be reflected in her character as she matures along with the rest of the cast.

A more controversial fan theory is that the actress was pregnant, and recently gave birth, which would explain the change in her appearance as well as the reasoning behind Sylvie’s storyline where she goes away to visit ‘Casey.’ Killmer, however, has shared nothing of that nature on social media, which makes us doubt this theory could be true.

The most logical explanation for Sylvie Brett’s physical changes would be that she is working out, whether for personal reasons or as a requirement to be a cast member on Chicago Fire (you have to look the part).

Although some feel that she is looking unhealthy, other fans have praised the show for toning down on the glam, as realistically, paramedics don’t go out into the field with a full face of makeup.

There has been no explanation for Sylvie’s change of appearance, but all appears well with actress Kara Killmer, whose most recent Instagram post was a playful series of behind-the-scenes shots with fellow castmates following Chicago Fire’s season 11.
