A topic you can really sink your teeth into.

Vampire shows tend to revolve around death - and The Vampire Diaries was no exception. But do you ever feel that some of the characters died a little too soon?

Gia and Sophie certainly fall into that category. Both seemed destined for a decent run on the show before being eliminated (arguably) before they had even reached their prime. But when it comes to the two who could have added so much more to the show had they stayed longer, it's two of the boys who fit the bill.

Here's why Finn and Papa Tunde shouldn't have been killed off so quickly:

Finn

Despite being a minor antagonist, Finn was a complex character who had so much more to give. The eldest of the siblings, he was his mother's confidant when it came to the death of their sister Freya.

But the worst thing about the decision to kill him off was that, deep down, he wasn't a bad man. He may have had a slightly warped view of right and wrong, but he was loyal and acted from his heart. This is a great quality to have in any character, as it opens up countless possibilities for internal conflict.

When he died, those possibilities died with him.

Papa Tunde

Now this was a character with massive amounts of untapped potential. Proud, self-confident and with an aptitude for causing death and increasing his own powers, Papa Tunde was something of a tour de force until his untimely end.

The way he channelled the energy of those he killed into his blade was part of what made him so formidable. And while it made sense that this would eventually lead to his own death (we all saw it coming), that inevitable demise should have been delayed.

While he was alive, everyone was afraid of him. Not only was he ruthless and powerful, but he was one of the few witches known to have actually killed vampires. So whenever he was involved, his reputation went before him. This added a layer of danger that was lost when Papa Tunde was written out of the show.
