Some of them actually deserved to be renewed.

Paramount+ continues to entertain us with new shows, as well as some old ones: this year, it's reviving the cult sitcom Frasier. However, at the same time, the streaming platform is reluctant to carry on with projects that its executives deem to be underperforming.

Here are just six shows Paramount has canceled this year.

  1. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (2023, 1 season, 6.0)

Launched in the middle of this spring, this show attempted to create a prequel to the classic 1978 film Grease. Tracking a group of female students at Rydell High on their journey to becoming the school's first all-female gang, this musical comedy-drama failed to impress the audience and was promptly canceled.

  1. The Game (2021, 2 seasons, 6.4)

Paramount+'s version of the cult show of the same name largely mirrors the original premise, focusing on black culture. Similarly, the reboot addresses many issues that people of color confront daily in the context of professional American football. The streaming service canceled it after two seasons.

  1. iCarly (2021, 3 seasons, 6.7)

Depending on your generation, you might have watched a lot of Nickelodeon growing up. iCarly was undoubtedly one of its most popular shows. In 2021, it was revived by Paramount+, which produced three new seasons of the beloved series. However, it has just announced that it won't be renewing it for additional seasons.

  1. Blood & Treasure (2019, 2 seasons, 6.8)

After a one-season stint on CBS, this adventure show, which revolves around an antiques expert and an art thief's quest to catch a terrorist, was transferred to Paramount+. Season 2 premiered on the platform in 2022, but its lackluster performance led to the show's eventual cancellation.

  1. Queen of the Universe (2021, 2 seasons, 7.1)

This drag queen singing competition, hosted by Graham Norton, known for his eponymous talk show on BBC, featured many talented performers and boasted a star-studded panel of judges, including Mel B and Leona Lewis. However, there will be no further seasons of the show.

  1. Star Trek: Prodigy (2021, 1 season, 7.4)

One of many Star Trek projects by Paramount+, this animated series followed the events after Star Trek: Voyager as a group of young aliens embarked on a new cosmic journey. Although there were plans for a second season, the show was canceled.
