But this time, the blame rests with Andrzej Sapkowski, not the show writers, with all due respect, of course!

One of the recurring themes in The Witcher Saga is undoubtedly the slow-burning (and sometimes quite fast-burning) romance between the Witcher and the lilac-and-gooseberry-scented sorceress, Yennefer von Vengerberg. It's a tragic love story that often becomes a primary source of conflict in Ciri, Geralt, and Yen's misadventures.

In the case of the Netflix adaptation, the writers muddled things up in Season 2 by having Yennefer betray Geralt and Ciri, almost delivering them to the Wild Hunt. However, the character is much closer to her book counterpart in Season 3, suggesting that the script will be even more faithful to the source material. That implies their relationship will stagnate for virtually the entire Season 4. Brace yourselves, dear shippers!

Where They Are at the End of Season 3

After the heart-wrenching and touching reunion of Geralt, Ciri, and Yen, who were finally able to spend time together as a real family, the audience faced another tragedy. The Thanedd Incident separated Geralt and Yennefer — and although Yen helped heal the Witcher in Brokilon Forest, she had to rejoin the other mages of Aretuza.

In the books, however, Francesca Findabair transformed her into a jade figurine for over a month to protect her from the Nilfgaardians and to offer her the chance to participate in forming a quasi-governmental organization, the Lodge of Sorceresses.

While the plots of the books and the series differ somewhat, they share one common element — Geralt and Yen will be on their own in their quest to find Ciri in a future season, separated from each other most of the time.

What Geralt and Yen are In For Next?

Season 4 will be mostly based on Baptism of Fire, and the long-awaited reunion between the witcher and the sorceress in Andrzej Sapkowski's series only occurs in the final book, The Tower of the Swallow.

However, it's unlikely that the writers will keep the beloved characters apart for the entire season, as the dynamic and chemistry between Geralt and Yennefer are undoubtedly one of the main aspects of the story that keeps fans coming back for more. Even if Yen has enough sorcery-related tasks of her own besides finding Ciri, she will most likely eventually join Geralt and his gang on their journey.

Well, perhaps during this time, we can grow accustomed to Liam Hemsworth's version of Geralt, and viewers will eventually appreciate his dynamic with Anya Chalotra the same as they did the chemistry between her and Henry Cavill.

Should the writers reunite Geralt and Yen in Season 4?
