The White Lotus Season 3 Has Finally Arrived: Is It Better Than the Previous Seasons?
The first episode was too leisurely, but prepared some pleasant surprises for the viewers.
The third season of The White Lotus, a satirical anthology about wealthy visitors to luxury hotels around the world, has begun on Max.
The new season will consist of eight episodes, surpassing its predecessors, which told the story in six and seven episodes. Perhaps this explains the seemingly slow start to the new story, which this time unfolds in the tropical landscapes of Thailand.
Season 3 Starts With a Murder as Usual
The structure of the opening episode remains standard. The series starts with a murder. This time there is an uproar with gunfire and panic on the hotel grounds.
The viewer is guided through this turbulent episode by Belinda's son, who has come for a meditation session. The spiritual practice is interrupted by the sound of gunshots, and at the end of the scene, as is traditional, only the outline of the deceased is shown, without giving a direct answer as to who the victim was.
After the tense sequence, the narrative traditionally goes back in time and begins to introduce the viewer to the new character. A private boat with guests of a luxury hotel is sailing to the hotel.
Season 3 Episode 1 Focuses Only on the Introduction of the Main Characters
The first episode of the Thailand hotel story was extremely leisurely. The increased number of episodes allowed the director and screenwriter of the project, Mike White, to devote the entire one-hour running time to introducing the characters and setting up the plot.
There is no action in the first episode, except for the introduction of the characters. Viewers get to know their traits and preferences, begin to understand the problems, and look ahead to future conflicts.
Season 3 Features an Unexpected Character from a Previous Season
Despite the leisurely pace, the beginning of the season is not without intrigue. Especially when you consider that the opening scene featured whole lines of gunfire.
Combined with the creators' assurances that the third season will be bigger than the previous ones, this could lead to the idea that there will be more victims in Season 3 than usual.
Greg's appearance also adds to the intrigue. Viewers who watched the second season will remember that Tanya's ex-husband is not the most honest person. He was the reason for the death of Jennifer Coolidge's character. This appearance is clearly not just a nice Easter egg for fans.

Season 3 of The White Lotus consists of eight episodes that will air every Sunday on Max. The first episode premiered on February 16th and the last episode will air on April 6th, 2025.
