The Watcher’s 6th MCU Cameo Just Dropped — Every Appearance So Far

The Watcher just notched his sixth MCU cameo, cementing him as Marvel Animation’s Stan Lee — here’s every appearance so far, from his What If…? debut to the latest blink-and-you-miss-it pop-in.
At this point, The Watcher is basically Marvel Animation's Stan Lee. He keeps popping up where you least expect him, and yes, he just did it again in Marvel Zombies.
The latest peek-a-boo is in Marvel Zombies
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) noticed The Watcher lurking in the background of Marvel Zombies and started posting receipts. One shot shows him tucked into the scenery, quietly doing what he does best: observing and minding absolutely none of our business.

'The Watcher sees all.'

If you missed him, you’re not alone. The cameo is quick and non-speaking, which tracks with several of his recent animated drop-ins.
Quick refresher: which Watcher are we watching?
In the MCU, 'The Watcher' usually means Uatu, one guy from an ancient alien race that observes events across the multiverse. Jeffrey Wright voices him in What If...? and even narrates that series. He also voices the character in I Am Groot. There’s one wrinkle, though: in What If...? - An Immersive Story, the role is voiced by Amuche Chukudebelu. Everywhere else on this list, The Watcher has mostly stayed silent in the background.
Every recent animated sighting (and what he did in each)
- What If...? - Full presence and series narrator, voiced by Jeffrey Wright
- I Am Groot - Voice cameo by Jeffrey Wright
- What If...? - An Immersive Story - Voice by Amuche Chukudebelu
- X-Men '97 - Reported non-speaking cameo
- Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - Reported non-speaking cameo
- Eyes of Wakanda - Reported non-speaking cameo
- Marvel Zombies - Non-speaking cameo spotted in the background
The counting is a little fuzzy (and that’s the inside baseball)
Some folks are calling Marvel Zombies his sixth MCU cameo. By the tally above, it looks more like his seventh animated appearance, depending on how you count non-speaking background shots and whether you include the Immersive Story project. Either way, he’s everywhere, and that seems deliberate.
Why The Watcher keeps showing up
Uatu is a Stan Lee and Jack Kirby creation who first appeared in The Fantastic Four #13, and he’s been a staple of Marvel lore ever since, from comics to games to pre-MCU cartoons. In the current Marvel Studios Animation era, his recurring cameos feel like a quiet connective tissue across shows. The message is pretty clear: these stories are all part of a bigger picture, and The Watcher is the guy making sure we know it.
