Viewers thought Season 27 set the bar high, but this roster is a clear sign the network wants to keep the spotlight blazing.

The Voice is rolling back onto NBC with Season 28, and the show is not shy about stirring the pot a little. Yes, the usual chair-spinning chaos is back, plus a couple of new toys they clearly want us to talk about.

When it premieres

Season 28 kicks off on September 22, 2025.

Who is sitting in the big red chairs

  • Michael Buble
  • Reba McEntire (back for her fourth season)
  • Niall Horan
  • Snoop Dogg

The first look: where to watch and what they showed

NBC handed the first look to People as an exclusive, and then the same clip went up on The Voice's official YouTube channel. It shows all four coaches in action: Snoop getting philosophical, Reba polling the crowd for advice on a decision, Niall hyping up a contestant, and Buble fully leaning into chaos with a new bit.

"It took me all this time to get real - only you can seal the deal based off of the way that you feel," Snoop says in the clip.

Buble, meanwhile: "When somebody's a bad boy, we put them in the penalty box. Now you get two minutes for looking too good."

About that penalty box

The clip introduces a so-called penalty box. In one moment, Buble literally drops the thing around Horan's chair and benches him for two minutes for, apparently, looking too good. Is it a gag? A new gameplay twist? Both? The show is playing coy about the actual rules, but it looks like a distinctive wrinkle they will use during the blind auditions.

The other new toy: the Carson Callback

There is also something called the Carson Callback. Details are vague for now, but yes, it is named after long-time host Carson Daly. Expect the show to spell out what it actually does as we get closer to that September 22 premiere.
