One Piece speculation is surging as a viral X post claims Loki wields the Squirrel Devil Fruit, sending #ONEPIECE1170 chatter into overdrive ahead of the next chapter reveals.

One Piece fans have a new theory to fight about, and this one is delightfully odd: Loki might have a squirrel Devil Fruit. Yes, a squirrel. Stick with me.

Where this started

Over on X, a fan post lit the spark with a simple, extremely online proclamation:

"Streets saying Loki has the squirrel devil fruit..."

The post blew up on December 23, 2025, and now we have a full-on speculation wave. I went digging to see if there was anything concrete behind it. Short answer: not really. As of now, nothing credible beyond what people are saying about Chapter 1170 is out there, and no post-1170 spoilers have surfaced from the usual reliable leakers.

What the alleged 1170 spoilers actually say

There is a Reddit post from user This-Inspection-69 making the rounds that supposedly breaks down Chapter 1170. If accurate, it does not show Loki eating any fruit. It does, however, tee up the speculation pretty neatly. Here is the gist of those claims:

  • Loki finally tames Ragnir, his hammer.
  • Ragnir had been guarding a chest.
  • The chapter reportedly ends with Loki opening that chest.
  • We do not see a Devil Fruit inside in that scene.
  • Fans leap to the Ratatoskr angle: either the chest is hiding a mythical squirrel Zoan for Loki, or Ragnir itself is the one linked to the Ratatoskr fruit.

Important caveat: none of this is confirmed. Treat it as fun speculation until the fuller, trustworthy spoiler drops land.

Why a 'squirrel' might actually make sense

On paper, 'legendary squirrel' sounds like a punchline. But in this arc? It tracks. Elbaf is steeped in Norse flavor, and Chapter 1169 already framed the next Devil Fruit as something legendary. If Oda is going mythic, a mythical Zoan based on Ratatoskr is absolutely on-theme.

Ratatoskr, in Norse mythology, is that chaotic little squirrel darting up and down Yggdrasil, ferrying messages (and insults) between the eagle at the top and the serpent Nidhoggr at the roots. He stokes conflict, thrives on mischief, and is basically weaponized gossip. Pair that idea with Loki, who already has a trickster rep baked into his name, and suddenly the 'squirrel' choice stops sounding silly and starts sounding like Oda being Oda.

The Elbaf factor

Elbaf has been pitched as a major arc that pulls back the curtain on the Void Century and Ancient Weapons. Dropping a mythical Zoan into the mix for a spotlight character like Loki is not exactly out of step. The only real question is who gets it. If this chest is real and important, Loki could be the eater. Or, if the hammer angle pans out, Ragnir might already be the user. Either way, it is a neat setup.

So, did Oda actually give Loki the Ratatoskr fruit?

We do not know yet. The rumor is entertaining, the thematic fit is strong, and the timing lines up with the 'legendary' hint. But until fuller 1170 spoilers drop from reliable sources, consider the squirrel still in the tree.

Quick series refresher

Thoughts on Loki going full Ratatoskr? Drop them in the comments. I am weirdly into this one.
