The Surprising Connection Between Bridgerton's Kate Sharma and Penelope Featherington
It's just another piece of proof of how stupid the Bridgerton men are.
Summary
- The main plot of Season 3 is very reminiscent of the main plot of Season 2.
- Bridgerton's third season reuses the trope used in Season 2 of the show.
- Penelope and Kate have some common experiences that could help them become good friends.
Certainly, Bridgerton may not be the most nuanced and substantive viewing, as it is a basic, albeit excitingly steamy and fascinatingly beautiful, romance drama. Nevertheless, it is a number one Netflix show that is popular with audiences around the world.
The highly anticipated third season of Bridgerton, set to premiere on May 16, will mark the fifth year of the show's run and will focus on the story of Colin Bridgerton and audience favorite Penelope Featherington as they try to redefine their relationship after an unfortunate incident in Season 2. And apparently, this has become a trope that has been used on the show before.
A Broken Record
Although little is known about the plot of Season 3 of Bridgerton, it is evident that the new episode will explore the relationship between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton after the mishap that took place in Season 2. Then, Penelope overheard Colin brusquely telling his friends that he would never consider her as a romantic partner and would never court her, which deeply hurt the girl.
However, it is a fact that the two characters are destined to become each other's endgame. So Season 3 will chronicle the transformation of their relationship. And if you feel a sense of déjà vu about this arc, you have every right to, as Bridgerton already used this plot device in the second installment.
Similarities between the Polin and Kanthony Arcs
Just like Penelope and Colin's relationship, Anthony and Kate's romance got off to a rocky start because the older Sharma sister couldn't stand the arrogant and obnoxious Viscount Bridgerton. The two characters also had an argument after Kate overheard Anthony's words about marriage and women.
Apparently, both Kate and Penelope unintentionally overheard their future husbands' conversations and scolded them for the things they said, proving that the Bridgerton men can't hold their tongues and are total goofballs in the first place. And just as Kate went on to reform Anthony until he became a decent man worthy of her hand, so, it seems, will Penelope.
In this light, it's a shame that Kate and Penelope's paths don't cross often in the story, as they could easily bond over their shared experiences of bettering the Bridgertons and become really close sisters-in-law. Perhaps this storyline will be explored in some way in future seasons of the Netflix show.
