Pack your bags—Cousins is calling us back.

Thought The Summer I Turned Pretty wrapped things up for good with that season 3 finale? Same. But surprise: Belly and Conrad are not done with us yet. Prime Video just revealed the story is getting one more chapter — as a movie.

Yes, a movie — and the reveal was very on brand

The announcement dropped at a celebratory event for the show’s final season in Paris, France — which is fitting, since the finale mostly unfolded there. Author and series co-creator Jenny Han was the one to say it out loud, calling this a proper capper to Belly’s journey.

"There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due."

"I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans."

When is it coming out?

No release date yet. The movie was announced on September 17, 2025, and it’s being billed as the final chapter. Jenny Han is writing it, and production is set to start soon. That’s all Prime Video is giving up for now.

What is it about? Here’s the smart bet

Official plot details are locked down, but season 3 ended with Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) finally choosing each other after years of will-they-won’t-they. If you’ve read Han’s books — spoilers ahead — you know they end with Belly marrying Conrad. The show skipped any wedding in the finale, which feels like the movie’s sweet spot. I would not bet against invitations, vows, and Cousins Beach people getting misty.

There are also a few threads the film could tie up:

Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) looked solid, minus that small thing where Steven might need to move to San Francisco to launch his business. Taylor seemed ready to go with him — will that stick? Meanwhile, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) started something new with Denise (Isabella Briggs). Does that last once wedding bells start ringing nearby? That’s a lot of feelings for one beachfront zip code.

Who is likely back

No cast confirmations yet, but based on where season 3 left everyone (and what a wedding-centric story would require), expect the core group to return:

  • Lola Tung as Belly
  • Christopher Briney as Conrad
  • Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah
  • Sean Kaufman as Steven
  • Rain Spencer as Taylor
  • Jackie Chung as Laurel
  • Tom Everett Scott as Adam
  • Colin Ferguson as John

And if the movie follows through on Jeremiah’s season 3 arc, keep an eye out for Denise (Isabella Briggs) too.

One last thing

The Summer I Turned Pretty (seasons 1–3) is streaming on Prime Video. I’ll update when we get filming news, casting confirmations, and yes — any hint of a date to circle on the calendar.
