The Studio Sets New Emmy Record as Apple Comedy Sweeps the Awards

Apple TV’s The Studio just made Emmy history, scoring more wins than any other comedy this year—here’s how the breakout hit pulled off its record-breaking night.
Apple TV+ just rolled into the Emmys like it owned the place. 'The Studio' made history before the show even started and then kept padding the lead once the big trophies came out. If you like a little inside baseball with your comedy, this is one of those nights where the industry got roasted and then handed the roaster a stack of awards for good measure.
How 'The Studio' dominated the Emmys
- It scored 23 nominations, tying the all-time record for a comedy series with last year’s much-debated haul for 'The Bear' (yes, we are still doing the comedy vs. drama thing).
- It had already snagged nine Creative Arts Emmys, including a win for Bryan Cranston, before the primetime ceremony even kicked off.
- At the 77th Emmys, Seth Rogen won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
- Not long into the broadcast, the show hit 11 total wins, now the most ever for a first season of any series.
- There were a few surprises: Ike Barinholtz didn’t take Supporting Actor, which felt like a shocker in an otherwise steamrolling night.
Apple TV+ overall had itself a night. While 'The Studio' was racking up hardware, 'Severance' was quietly stacking wins of its own. Over on the rivalry front, 'The Studio' edged past HBO’s 'The Penguin' at the Creative Arts Emmys by one trophy, and the primetime rematch was just as tight. The broader takeaway: Seth Rogen’s gleeful takedown of the industry is playing like gangbusters with voters.
Season 2 now has a target on its back
That first run came in hot: a 93% Tomatometer and a 76% audience score, plus all the awards momentum, means the sequel season has a lot to live up to. Apple TV+ may not be printing Netflix-level money, but when it comes to quality control, their smaller library keeps punching above its weight. Think 'Ted Lasso,' 'Slow Horses,' 'Severance' — and now 'The Studio' — each built on star power, sharp scripts, and the kind of production values you can actually see on screen.
Rogen said last month he was "in the midst" of finishing the new script to take to Apple and see "if they had any major concerns."
Given what Season 1 got away with, I wouldn’t expect a lot of hand-wringing about whatever he turns in next.
When to expect it
No release date yet for Season 2. With scripting basically done, the current expectation is late 2026 or early 2027. For reference, Season 1 premiered March 25, 2025 on Apple TV+.
Quick refresher on the show
'The Studio' is a TV-MA comedy on Apple TV+. Seth Rogen plays Matt Remick, Catherine O'Hara co-stars as Amy, and the series is credited to writer Peter Huck. High-gloss satire, big-name cast, and now a record-setting trophy case. No pressure, Season 2.
