The Real Reason Seann William Scott Thinks American Pie 5 Won’t Happen

Seann William Scott says he’d happily suit up for another slice of American Pie, but he isn’t betting on it actually happening. He weighed in while promoting his upcoming movie Dolly, after being asked about Jason Biggs recently floating interest in a fifth film.

Scott: Down for it, doubtful it gets made

Scott’s all-in on the idea, especially if Biggs winds up behind the camera. He hasn’t caught Biggs’ new directing work yet, but he’s clearly into the vibe.

'For sure. I haven’t seen his movie yet. It looks amazing. The reviews were incredible. I’m not surprised that he’s a great director. He’s so smart, even from the beginning. You could just tell he’s such a star.'

As for getting the original crew back together?

'With Biggs directing, that would be amazing. I think it would be really fun to get everybody together. I don’t think it’ll ever happen, but it’s fun to think about.'

What would change his mind

Scott’s read on the holdup is simple: studios want proof that audiences still show up for big, unapologetically R-rated comedies in theaters.

'Maybe it’ll take a couple of R-rated comedies to work and be a success. Then they’re like, "Oh, people like this stuff again."'

Translation: someone else needs to break the seal first.
