The One Twist That Could Guarantee Season 2 for Marvel Zombies

Marvel Zombies hasn’t even premiered on Disney+, but buzz is already building for a Season 2 as the animated take on the cult comic turns MCU heavyweights into ravenous undead and fuels fan speculation about how long this grisly saga could shamble on.
Marvel Zombies hasn't even shambled onto Disney+ yet and there's already chatter about Season 2. And for once, a Marvel exec said the quiet part out loud: if you want more of it, you&aposre going to have to show up for the first run.
The renewal math, straight from Marvel
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios&apos Head of Streaming, told ComicBook.com that a blueprint for a potential second season is already mapped out. Whether it actually happens comes down to how the debut performs. Translation: if people watch it on Disney+, Season 2 has a shot.
"Please, like, people have got to subscribe to Disney+ and watch this show. If that happens, they will get more. And we are excited. We&aposre ready."
That's about as blunt as you&aposll hear it from a studio exec. Inside baseball, but appreciated.
So what is Marvel Zombies, exactly?
It's an animated miniseries based on the Marvel comic of the same name, set in a corner of the MCU where a zombie outbreak turns a bunch of heavy hitters into flesh-eating nightmares. The show spins out of What If...? Season 1, Episode 5. Winderbaum has previously framed that episode as the prologue to this series — basically the Part 1 before the main event landing next year.
The essentials
- Premiere: September 24, 2025 on Disney+, with all four episodes dropping the same day
- Format and rating: four-episode animated miniseries, TV-MA
- Creative team: from Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells
- Who's in the mix (animated): Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thanos, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, and more
- Returning voices: Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Hailee Steinfeld, among others
- Setup: continues the zombie outbreak introduced in What If...? Season 1, Episode 5
Will there be a Season 2?
Maybe — Marvel already has a plan on the board, but the greenlight hinges on how many people actually stream Season 1. If you want more undead MCU mayhem, the path is clear: watch the first batch when it hits.
