The One Reality Show Jennifer Lawrence Binge-Watched To Unwind While Filming Her New Movie
After long days inhabiting Grace’s unraveling mind in Lynne Ramsay’s Die My Love, Jennifer Lawrence reset with one reality show—her sole between-takes escape—as the harrowing drama, about a writer’s slide into postpartum psychosis, barrels toward its November 7, 2025 release.
Jennifer Lawrence has a new trick for coming down from a brutal day on set: binge-watching a very specific Hulu reality show. And yes, this all happened while she was shooting Lynne Ramsay's next film, which does not sound like light material.
Quick catch-up on the movie
- Title: Die My Love
- Director: Lynne Ramsay
- Release date: November 7, 2025
- Plot: Lawrence plays Grace, a writer who unravels into psychosis after giving birth. Her husband, Jackson, is played by Robert Pattinson, who is left trying to manage the fallout.
- Also stars: Sissy Spacek
Pregnant, acting, and tapping into something primal
Lawrence sat down with Entertainment Tonight alongside her co-star Sissy Spacek and talked about making the film while she was four or five months pregnant. The Hunger Games star said that being pregnant actually helped her lock into Grace's mindset, describing the feeling as raw and instinctive. She said parts of Grace made her feel like a caged animal, and that weirdly lined up with what pregnancy does to your brain.
"When you're pregnant, you're kind of animalistic."
She added that pregnancy flips on new switches in your head, and having that energy was useful for a character who is spiraling.
How she decompressed: Mormon wives, Hulu, and no weekly wait
When ET asked how she cooled off after the heavier scenes, Lawrence did not go highbrow. She said she leaned on the Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The big selling point: the episodes dropped all at once, so there was no rationing out one a week. Translation: perfect binge after a rough shoot day. She is already hyped for the next season, and even turned to Spacek to ask if she watches it with her daughters.
One detail that did not go down easy: the soda thing on the show. If you know, you know. Lawrence said watching the cast pump a bunch of syrups into those giant sodas made her queasy, especially while pregnant.
Die My Love lands next fall, and based on how Lawrence describes her headspace, it sounds like Ramsay is going for something that is both intimate and quietly terrifying. The reality TV detox makes sense.
