2024 was a year full of horror. It seems that fans of the genre have an even more eventful year ahead of them: our list did not include all the upcoming releases.
We have chosen five anticipated horror films that will be released in 2025.
1. Final Destination: Bloodlines
Release Date: May 16, 2025
2025 will often play on the nostalgic feelings of viewers. Along with other old franchises, Final Destination is being revived. Final Destination: Bloodlines will focus on the plight of first responders – paramedics, firefighters and police officers.
The previous films were released from 2000 to 2011, and the plot always revolved around a group of people trying to avoid tragedy. But after a while, the rescued characters died under absurd circumstances.
2. The Monkey
Release Date: February 27, 2025
Last year was marked by a loud ad campaign for the movie Longlegs with Nicolas Cage as a maniac. In the near future, viewers will be able to see the next project of Osgood Perkins – The Monkey, which is an adaptation of the story of the same name by Stephen King.
The plot of The Monkey tells about twin brothers who find an old wind-up monkey in the attic. The cursed toy becomes the culprit of a series of deaths. The men manage to get rid of the monkey, but many years later the sinister creature returns.
3. 28 Years Later
Release Date: June 20, 2025
28 Years Later is a direct sequel to the zombie horror 28 Days Later. Dedicated fans have been waiting for the new installment for so long that the upcoming movie is sure to be one of the box office hits of 2025. The first movie was released in 2002, starring Cillian Murphy.
Many years have passed since the beginning of the epidemic. The story revolves around a boy who tries to find a doctor who can help his dying mother.
4. Until Dawn
Release Date: April 25, 2025
The era of video game movies continues. In 2025, viewers will see an adaptation of the popular game Until Dawn.
Clover and her friends are trying to find their missing sister Melanie – the girl disappeared under strange circumstances. The group discovers a dilapidated building and soon encounters a masked killer.
The madman kills the friends, but they wake up the next morning as if nothing had happened. The characters are stuck in a loop, which means they have to relive the terrible events over and over again.
5. The Conjuring: Last Rites
Release Date: September 5, 2025
The Conjuring is an incredibly successful franchise that began in 2013 and has spawned two sequels and spin-offs. The films focus on Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators. The plot is based on real events from the practice of ghost hunting.
It is reported that Last Rites"will be the final chapter of the Conjuring franchise. Plot details are unknown, but it is easy to assume that the writers were once again inspired by the real-life Warren case. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will once again play the married couple.
