The Last Frontier drops a two-episode premiere and, shocker, it actually moves. Episode 2 locks in the pace and centers everything around one very specific object: a flight deck recorder, and the one guy who will do almost anything to get it.
What Havlock is really after in Episode 2 'Wind of Change'
Havlock is laser-focused on the plane's flight deck recorder because he believes it holds the truth about why they crashed. Not just a vague clue — the chip inside it logs the key events leading up to the wreck. He keeps dangling demands and half-truths to stall Frank while he hunts for the chip.
The Henry detour (and why it is a detour)
Havlock tells Frank to bring him Henry Dale Sicker — a fellow inmate from the flight — and he even ties it to Frank's wife, Sarah, as leverage. Sounds straightforward until Frank actually finds Henry and the whole thing unravels.
- Henry says he does not know Havlock and has no idea what Havlock wants from him.
- CIA agent Sydney figures Havlock is planning to sell the recorder's data. Henry's history laundering money for very rich clients would make him a useful middleman.
- Frank then learns Henry already cut a deal with the DOJ to enter witness protection, so Henry is not about to go anywhere near Havlock.
- That is when Frank finally clocks it: the Henry demand was a stall tactic. Havlock only cares about the recorder's chip.
- Case in point — Havlock hijacks a van to grab the chip and keeps every hostage alive. He is strategic and ruthless, but he is not killing for fun.
- Meanwhile, Sydney is not just any agent in this mess. She and Havlock have history: after he stole something called Archive 6 — files tied to an illegal CIA operation — she tried to reel him in using a fake identity.
- That personal history helps explain why Sydney is so invested in helping Frank play along with Havlock's demands to track down Henry.
So what is on the recorder?
The chip captures what happened in the run-up to the crash — the kind of evidence that can clear people, expose others, or fetch a price on the shadow market. Whether Havlock wants answers, leverage, or both, the chip is the whole ballgame.
