The Georgie and Mandy Spin-Off Will Be a Disaster, Here's Why

Even before Young Sheldon's seventh season premiered, fans of the TBBT universe had reason to be excited. In mid-January, CBS announced that it had greenlit a YS spin-off focusing on Georgie and Mandy's married life. However, when Season 7 was released, the news quickly proved to be a curse in disguise, as the last installment of the comedy show turned into a bland prelude to the new offshoot.
When it debuted in 2017, Young Sheldon quickly gained traction with audiences, becoming one of the most popular comedies on CBS. Titled after The Big Bang Theory's Dr. Sheldon Cooper, the spin-off followed the younger version of the character as he grew up with his family in Medford, Texas. And while the other Coopers have always played an important role in the show's overall plot, they never eclipsed the titular character until Season 7. And that may be the reason why the Georgie and Mandy-centric spin-off is doomed before YS even ends.
Too Much to Handle
With only four episodes of Young Sheldon's seventh season left to air, it's possible to make a holistic assessment of the entire installment. In short, season 7 is disappointing. While it's quite eventful, it seems to be less about Shelly and more about the relationship between Georgie and Mandy.
The duo has been the focus of every recent episode, from Mandy's fights with her mother to Mandy and Georgie's not-so-secret wedding to their marriage. So much so that many Young Sheldon fans have grown tired of the two characters and don't want to see their faces again for a long time.
'YS has made me so exhausted from this couple that I'm not even looking forward to the spin off,' one Reddit user wrote.
Interestingly, most viewers are upset that Mandy and Goergie practically stole the show from Sheldon.
'It is not doing any good that they're being forced as the main characters of this season just 'cause of their upcoming show. The show is called Young Sheldon and we barely even see Sheldon this season,' another Redditor chimed in.
Repellent Tactics
It's obvious that Season 7 of Young Sheldon needs to set up the new spin-off by getting the audience invested in Georgie and Mandy. But it seems that the tactic the showrunners have chosen is counterproductive, as most people get annoyed with the two characters instead of sympathizing with them.
And worst of all, it cannot be helped and the last season of YS will forever be tainted by the bad creative decision that has already discouraged many viewers from ever watching the next spin-off.
