The Complete List of TV Shows Netflix Canceled in 2023
Another graveyard of Netflix's victims.
Netflix continues its longstanding tradition of canceling at least one show for every few it renews. Although the total number of renewals and new project announcements is far higher, the impact of the cancellations is just as huge, affecting not only flops but also shows that were anticipated to become new hits or had already managed to gain a loyal fan base.
Regrettably, 2023 was another year of disappointment as Netflix canceled twelve shows that many people thought were very promising and got seriously invested in.
12. 1899
The year kicked off with a massive disappointment when 1899, a series from the creators of the hit show Dark, was axed by Netflix after just one successful season. However, there's still a glimmer of hope that it could be revived by HBO, Amazon, or even Netflix itself, as a petition to bring it back has garnered nearly 100,000 signatures.
11. Inside Job
The cancellation of the fan-favorite animated sitcom Inside Job from the creators of Gravity Falls and BoJack Horseman was equally crushing for its fans.
10. Hot Skull
The Turkish sci-fi series about a mysterious verbally transmitted epidemic was not renewed for a second season.
9. Uncoupled
Netflix also canceled the gay romantic comedy-drama featuring Neil Patrick Harris. Thankfully, Showtime picked it up for a second season!
8. Man vs. Bee
The uproarious British comedy created and penned by Rowan Atkinson and William Davies did not receive a renewal for a second season.
7. Sex/Life
The drama, following a housewife in a midlife crisis yearning for the excitement of her past, got canceled in April.
6. Secrets of Summer
In June, Netflix canceled the Argentinian romantic musical Secrets of Summer.
5. Freeridge
A spin-off of the popular series On My Block, Freeridge received critical acclaim but was unfortunately dropped by the streaming service in April after just one season.
4. Bling Empire (and its spin-off)
The Crazy Rich Asians-inspired reality show Bling Empire and its spin-off Bling Empire: New York were both canceled in April.
3. Smiley
This Spanish rom-com was yet another LGBTQ+ show axed by Netflix.
2. Lockwood & Co
Lockwood & Co, a series about teenagers investigating supernatural occurrences, sadly became another show that reached a dead end.
1. Welcome to Eden
In July, the Spanish thriller became the most recent major cancellation, with no plans for a third-season renewal.
