The Chances Good Omens Will Get Season 3 Are Basically 99%, and Season 2 Ending Proves It
Does the bromance have a chance to turn into a real romance?
Good Omens 2 charmed millions of viewers with its magnificent writing, dialog, and acting but also broke many hearts with its ending. Could the story of Michael Sheen's Aziraphale and David Tennant's Crowley really end on such a devastating note? We think not.
Watch out for Good Omens 2 finale spoilers ahead!
In fact, it was the bittersweet finale that convinced fans that Season 3 was inevitable. How could it not? After Crowley realizes his true feelings for Aziraphale, lays them out on the table, and the couple shares the hottest kiss on Earth, how can there not be a sequel?
There's no doubt that Crowley's feelings are mutual, but let's step back from the relationship storyline for a moment (even if we don't want to). It was some sort of duty or concern for the future of Earth and his friend that called Aziraphale away from the demon to replace Gabriel as the Supreme Archangel of Heaven. And this is already a good foundation for the next season.
Knowing the ways of Hell and Heaven in the Good Omens universe, there's no way that Metatron's promised Second Coming will turn out to be anything positive. Most likely, Aziraphale and Crowley will face another potential global threat that will bring them back together and mend their relationship.
If you are still not convinced, creator Neil Gaiman has confirmed that Season 3 is in the works, awaiting Amazon's approval, but the ongoing Hollywood strikes will delay it.
'Before the strikes we had a plan and a timetable in place, and I expected that around now I'd be handing over the first draft of Episode Six of Season 3, and that the scripts would be in place and we'd just be waiting on Amazon to say yes or no, based on the viewer numbers,' Gaiman wrote on his Tumblr blog a few days ago.
Given the social media buzz that Good Omens 2 has generated and the loyalty of the universe's fandom, which just got a whole lot bigger, the show must be doing well in the ratings and Amazon can't help but renew it.
But even if they don't, there's no doubt that the iconic author will find a way to tell his story in some other way, via a book, a graphic novel, or a movie. So the Crowley-Aziraphale story is far from over. Dry your tears, sad fans.
